Last but certainly not least, The Greater Providence YMCA is thrilled to honor our former CEO, Steven G. O'Donnell, as a 2024 Y Hero! As we celebrate the past, present, and future of the Greater Providence YMCA we are also reflecting on Steven's remarkable leadership as CEO of the Greater Providence YMCA. Steven helped expand swim programs to serve a more diverse population, oversaw facility upgrades across the branches, revitalized the outdoor facilities at the Kent County YMCA, helped stabilize the organization's finances during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and so much more. Steven G. O'Donnell is also the reason our annual Y Heroes celebration exists! We are incredibly grateful to Steven; his work will have a never-ending positive impact on the Greater Providence YMCA.

The Greater Providence YMCA is pleased to honor Helena Foulkes as a 2024 Y Hero! Helena has been an invaluable supporter of the Greater Providence YMCA. She offered critical insight in managing through crisis during the COVID, connected the Y with other organizations that could assist us in our daily operations and fundraising, and was a supporter of the midnight basketball summer league in 2023. The Greater Providence YMCA is thankful and deeply appreciative of Helena for her continued support and invaluable insights. We look forward to honoring her on May 14.

The Greater Providence YMCA is pleased to honor University of Rhode Island Greek Life as a 2024 Y Hero! Two years ago, the Greek Week council at URI chose to donate some of the fundraising dollars generated through URI’s Greek Week to the Greater Providence YMCA. Victoria and Nick’s impressive leadership on the council made this kind gesture possible. Nate and Victoria are a great reflection on the University as well as the State of Rhode Island. Their desire to help other young people in their community is incredibly inspiring. The Greater Providence YMCA is incredibly grateful to University of Rhode Island Greek Life, Nate, and Victoria for their impactful leadership and looks forward to formally honoring them on May 14.

The Greater Providence YMCA is proud to offer four day and one overnight summer camp options for families. With summer camp, kids come away with new skills, confidence and friendships that broaden their perspectives and strengthen their character. And thanks to national partner, Peanuts, and Beagle Scout Snoopy, the Y is able to expand these programs for families who need it most. Find your circle at https://lnkd.in/dMik_zjX #SummerCamp

The Greater Providence YMCA is pleased to honor Ray Rickman as a 2024 Y Hero! Ray has always been a great supporter of the GPYMCA’s programs through Stages of Freedom, and he has been instrumental in helping the GPYMCA secure funding to increase access to swim lessons, particularly for youth from historically marginalized communities. The Greater Providence YMCA is incredibly thankful and inspired by Ray’s unwavering commitment, and we look forward to honoring Ray on May 14 at our Y Heroes Celebration.
