About us

Over the past 35 years, the Education Exchange has helped more than 20,000 adults increase their educational levels, earn high school equivalency, improve job skills, gain access to workplace opportunities, and enhance their economic security. We are proud to provide adult learners in southern Rhode Island the opportunity to acquire the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Founded in 1978 as the Washington County Adult Learning Center (WCALC), the Education Exchange is the largest provider of literacy and the only GED testing site in Washington County. We offer a wide variety of adult education and work readiness programs to prepare adult learners to succeed in college, vocational training, and/or the workplace: Adult Literacy & Academic Skills GED Preparation National External Diploma Program (NEDP) English as a Second Language (ESL) English Literacy & Civics Education Transition to College & Career Work & Life Readiness Computer Skills Resume Writing & Job Search Skills Every teacher and staff member at the Education Exchange is dedicated to helping adult learners achieve their goals, in the classroom, the workplace, and beyond. Like our adult learners, we are always striving to succeed. If you have a suggestion for a new program or an enhancement of a current program, please let us know.
